The last day of a busy week in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

Good grief it has been a very busy week and it seems like I’ve barely been at home. Well I guess most every day I haven’t been home all day like I like. Monday evening was J’s test and still haven’t heard anything back from the specialist. Tuesday morning we returned home and I got very little done if anything. Wednesday I got my hair cut and went to the grocery store and stopped by dad’s on the way home. He showed me all his tomato plants that he planted and we went through the paperwork he needed to take with us for his Thursday appointment at VA. Wednesday afternoon I planted some more things (I think–kinda forget which day I planted what). Wednesday evening watched TV and pretty much vegged out. Thursday we left here a little after 9 and then arrived at the VA a little after 11 and went directly to the DAV office to ask them some questions about some paperwork that was sent to dad. Can’t find a VA doctor that will sign it. The DAV councilor said this was becoming a routine problem so after he made several phone calls, I brought the paperwork back home and we’ll see if his local doctor will sign the paperwork. Geeze!!!! What a convoluted mess this has been for the last few months.
His ENT appointment was for 1:30 and we had time to get his information from his last evaluation updated at the eligibility office. Can you believe that you have to have them pull the new information into their system? Me neither, but you do. Got his new card for VA applied for and he should receive it in 7-10 days. Upstairs for the ENT appointment and then we headed back to home town for a very late lunch/early evening supper at the place in town he always wants to eat. We filled up his vehicle with gas before we went to eat and then had cheeseburgers and onion chips for supper. Headed home and I got home about 5pm.
I check on my newly planted seeds every morning and every evening and what a wonderful surprise to see my corn seed that I had added to the little corn patch had come up. I was so excited. Maybe too excited. It is corn for Pete’s sake!! Then I check my green bean place and they too were making a break from seed to plant. Oh happy day!! I watered everything, as the rain that was predicted didn’t amount to anything and by the time I got done watering it was almost time for J to get home. We had brought him a cheeseburger home with us so he was a happy camper to see what his supper was for last night.
Today, dad has another appointment to get his PX/Comm ID card for post. He kinda hinted at canceling today’s appointment, but not going to happen if I can help it. He has lamented about wanting privileges for this for the last 5 or 6 years. If we never go shopping, then so be it, but he will have a card if at all possible now that he is qualified for one. The appoint is for 10:30 and since the place is in the building where my boss and a friend of mine works, I hope to see my friend. I suspect dad will want to go check out the commissary and the exchange if he doesn’t wear out. I honestly don’t think he will be as impressed with lower prices, since the only thing they don’t do is charge tax. However, dad may think he’s hit the lotto!! Whatever makes him happy.
I do need to buy a new mouse for my computer somewhere today. Both of my old ones have died and even with new batteries, they refuse to work. I despise not using a mouse to get around on my computer screen, and really hope I can get a replacement today.
I will end this drawn out writing and see if it has warmed up at all yet this AM. It is in the 40s out there this morning and that is chilly. The winds were horrible yesterday and as we were getting ready to leave the VA we watched a helicopter pilot “practicing” taking off and landing in the the little circle in front of the hospital with the wind rocking it back and forth. He did it several times while we were waiting for the valet to bring dad’s vehicle so we finally figured out that it was practice for perhaps a new pilot. It is good to know they practice in the actual conditions they must fly and land during an emergency flight.
Take care and God Bless
