Mission Accomplished in Everyday Ramblings

This is the same meridian or parkway strip I took the last arty blurry photo of. I went back yesterday with the camera midday when there was actually light. I wanted to reshoot a bunch of angles that I didn’t get quite right on Saturday. Of course in three days the organization of flowers coming on and fading was completely different. I like the two different stairways here.

Gardens are certainly of the moment aren’t they? We are having a particularly lush weedy spring.

I am eating fresh dark cherries as I type this. The sun is out, there are early strawberries and cherries and right this moment Diego is not being a rambunctious brat cat. Ever since I came back from being away he has wanted to be on my body.

Be careful what you ask for! I wanted a snuggly cat with personality and boy did I get one. He is a big guy, weighs over 12 lbs. and is all soft furry belly and when he is in my lap I can’t do much of anything.

Me thinks that is the point. :)

I just sent an email to my technology group approving go live with our process improvement on Wednesday night. I can’t believe anything at this job could make me happy but this truly is. I am doing some serious grinning.

This afternoon I am getting my hair cut and highlighted so that will draw attention away from the fact that I will probably have bruising on my face after the surgery Friday. Going almost white with my hair color was a nerve-wracking decision but one I am happy with.

It is a little side splurge in the face of the massive splurge all this dental work is proving to be. Eek. I moved a big chunk of change from savings yesterday. I am grateful I have it to spend but still…

They haven’t announced the winners of this year’s poetry prize yet. I admit I want very much to win this time. (This is the first year I entered.) I am feeling like I am leaving a legacy of a job well done against the odds in my day to day employment but the idea of having a poem in the historical record of the institution appeals to me a great deal.

Partially because it is a place the Evil Empire cannot touch me.

I was talking to Kes this weekend about how lucky I am to have these interests that I pursue with determination and enjoy that I do because I want to, not because I need to or am compelled to but because I love them, poetry, photography, writing and reading voraciously and of course yoga. If I had more time there would be other things in there too like bird watching and hiking, cooking and dancing and…

You get the idea. Mostly I just wanted to share my happy moment.

Mission Accomplished with no Mr. Phelps in sight.
