1180 miles East. Once again. in A small but passable life.

The flight East was uneventful. It actually felt rather routine since I’ve now made four round trips since December 3, 2014. That’s nearly ten thousand miles. Crazy.

I had to wait outside at the airport for three hours for my ride, waiting for Daughter to get off work. But that was fine. The weather was perfect for sitting outside.

My attic room was the same as I’d left it. It only took me an hour to unpack and set things back where they belong.

After coffee Friday morning I set out for a walk. I went to the library and found three non-fiction books and updated my library card. I stopped at the credit union to order more checks and found out that now that I’m old I get one free ‘box’ of checks per year. Nice. Even though I won’t be needing many checks. I’ve used a grand total of 973 checks since Daughter was a baby.

I dissected the clothes dryer and found the faulty component. Daughter found a replacement for it online. So the dryer is in pieces on the back porch until the parts arrive.

I fixed the drain under the kitchen sink. Easy peasy. The faucet however, is toast. Lime buildup has rendered it to be impossible for water to pass through. Besides, it’s been leaking for a year. It’s a plastic piece of Chinese made crap so I’m sure it can’t be taken apart and repaired.

Next is the yard. Oh my! I’m waiting on gas for the mower. I’m waiting on a cool cloudy morning to burn the piles of brush that I piled up last summer. They should burn hot and fairly smokeless. The flower beds need reworked.

So yeah, the old routine has started up again. I’ve slept so good the last couple of nights. At least a solid nine hours. And the Sunday shave and shower is back even if I don’t feel the need.

I’ll be calling Mom this afternoon to see how she’s doing and to say “Happy Mother’s Day!” I’m sure she’s doing fine.

My atomic clock connected right away with total correctness so I guess it was the physical location that prevented it from connecting at Mom’s place. I’m glad to have it working again.

Both my solar d.lights were still charged from just sitting on the bookshelf for 3 ½ months. They’ve spent the last two days sitting on the window sill in the sun soaking up a good charge.

I’m going to go through the pile of belongings I left here while I was out West in the desert. I’m sure that things can be gotten rid of. What I need to live out West easily fits in a carry-on suitcase. I did leave some items at Mom’s, but not much. Here, because there is Winter, I need to have more mass. Way more.

TWO BOXES, TWO BAGS.

That’s always been the seemingly impossible goal. Impossible.

Anyway, I’ve got coffee to drink and a book to read.
