It’s been a busy few days - and at last I can sit back and have a rest - on Thursday we had the final session of ballroom dancing - actually the classes finished just after Easter, but we had two hours of social dancing - and then seven couples went out for a meal together.
We toasted the 90th birthday of the queen and then had an excellent meal - the dancing may be good for your health, but the social aspect is just as important - irrespective of our terpsichorean abilities!!
On Friday we set off for our annual gourmet dinner of a wine appreciation group - it is always held in a hotel on the other side of the city and we take advantage of the trip to spend time looking at places and seeing people we would not normally get to. From the scenery of mountains and sea to an art gallery and studio being shown around by the artist - a thick carrot and orange soup and then on to book in to the hotel - rest, and then to a champagne reception before six courses and as many wines.
No wonder I woke to a stomach rumbling - and some the of the loudest farts heard in the area for years - one of those occasions where you dare not trust it to be a controllable dry fart - requiring a move towards the bathroom. Still, I was ready for my cooked breakfast - and on the road again in the morning to a nature reserve and a call into IKEA.. One thing we do - we use a trip to do as much as possible.
The the joy of Saturday night - a tv programme from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford on Avon on the 400th anniversary of his death. Two hours or more of a major actors, musicians and dancers producing excerpts and refernces to his work. rarely do I clap while watching tv - but this was a joy from start to finish.
It was a reminder that actors well known to most people through tv, David Tennant (Dr Who), David Suchet (Poirot), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) etc etc - are fine stage actors first and foremost. If you are in the UK find it on I Player - enjoy!
And today we are in for a touch of cold - but the joy is that the leaves are bursting out on the trees - and at the moment the sun is shining. And we are having a rest!
So what about some funnies -
