Movies in Ultimate Randomness

I am sitting in my room right now watching a movie on tv and realizing that there are just some things I should not watch. If you have read my previous entries, you will understand the reasoning but if you haven't, give them a read. It may be a bit too sad and melancholy (or melodramatic) for some people, but it will give you proper insight into this entry. See, right now, I am watching 50 First Dates on TBS. Absolutely one of my favorite movies ever. Between this and The Wedding Singer, I am really amazed that Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler were never an actual couple because they are so great at the chemistry. But, given how things have been lately, while I am enjoying the movie immensely, it just makes me sad. A guy who never thought he would settle down finds the one woman he can't live without and discovers her memory resets every night to the day before she had a serious accident that caused brain trauma. So every day, he tries to make her fall in love with him again. Sure, it is a different situation, but there are definitely feelings that the movie tries to convey that my own heart reacts to. Where before, it made me happy to share these feelings, now it just hurts and I pretty much am on the verge of tears. So, in response, I will probably use some of my entries here to chronicle some movies that I should avoid in the future.

1. 50 First Dates I don't think I need to explain this one any further, but it is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies and, as the inspiration for this entry, deserves the first mention on the list. Oh, and I was just reminded by the movie of another thing that usually brings tears: the rendition of Over The Rainbow that plays at the end of the movie as Lucy sees her daughter aboard the boat.

2. The Notebook Do I really need to explain why this one is on the list? I would cry at parts of that movie before anyway. At this point, I just change the channel. Some parts make me sad, some make me long for what I had and some just make me bitter. There isn't any of that that I should try to feel if I don't need to.

3. Across The Universe I am not sure when the last time I watched this movie was. It used to be a regularly watched movie for me, but as it is one of my wife's favorites also, she tends to watch it with other people when she makes them watch movies. As such, it doesn't feel like mine much anymore. For those not in the know, this movie is mostly musical using the music of the Beatles for inspiration. Even all the main characters are named for people in Beatles music. The story revolves around the developing relationship between Jude and Lucy, two teenagers from opposite sides of the Atlantic. Jude makes his way to America at the start of the Vietnam War to find his father, who met his mother during WWII. His search leads him to a new friend, Max, and his sister, Lucy. A romance blossoms between the two, but trouble follows as Max is drafted into the war and Lucy becomes an activist. The relationship deteriorates until Jude is deported while trying to keep Lucy from being arrested. In the end, love wins out and Jude makes his was back to America to find Lucy in the final scene of the movie. It is a great movie and the music is well done by the cast. If you like a good romance or Beatles music, I recommend this one. At this point, I don't think I need to explain why this one falls on the list any further.

Anyway, I will probably add to the list as time goes on and other movies hit me in a certain way, but I just wanted to get all this down so I wouldn't forget. Next time readers....
