The work isn’t what wears you out.
It’s defending the work that wears you out.
Then you have to recharge by doing the work more.
But the work isn’t what wears you out.
Good work only a few may see is better than success for its own sake.
If you don’t feel that way, you’re doing the wrong thing.
The work isn’t what wears you out.
Even great work will be 17% brilliance.
17% crap.
66% above-average material supporting the brilliant stuff.
That’s why editing is so hard.
That’s why we call it work even though it is more like breathing or pumping blood.
Something autonomic for the people who accept that it is not just all fun.
But the work isn’t what wears you out.
It’s all the work you have to do around the work that wears you out.
Then you have to recharge by doing more of the real work.
