Turf War in The Past

My house, well, my front yard, has become the site of a turf war. See. The neighbors who share the duplex with us have chickens. And like the hippy chicks they are (gotta love Evergreen State College), they believe that “free range” chickens are chickens that can go anywhere they want, regardless of their safety or what others think. Well, their chickens have adopted my household, because, of course, Mom and Court went out and bought some cracked corn for them. They have their own water bowl and corn dish and even have a swimming pool to splash around in during the summer. There used to be four chickens, but a raccoon got one of them about a month or so ago, and I think that a second got killed earlier this week. Anyways, they’ve moved into our front yard, and decided that they like it there. This is all good, right?
Well, the Squirrels have taken offense that the chickens have decided to move into our yard so they’ve started staking out the bowl and sitting in it, munching and staring at the chickens every time they come out to eat. It’s quite entertaining, at least until the chickens decide since they can’t eat at their dish, they’re coming into the house to hang out with the peoples.
In other news…
I’ve been shaky emotionally/mentally lately. I ended up having to spend a couple days at home hiding. I’m doing okay now, not good, not bad, but okay. Work today was okay… except we watched a show that was about cooking and now I really, really, really want to BBQ. Maili is going on vacation next week, and I thought since she’d be gone for 5 or so days, I’d be able to throw a party at her house… no such luck, she’s gone from Sunday through Thursday. Punk.
Today’s an up day if you can’t tell… it’s like, 77 degrees outside, beautiful, sunny. I have the door open and the sun is slowly going down but oh my, it’s lovely. I have a Munchie on my shoulder, a full belly (I made chicken alfredo and ceasar salad for dinner), and yeah, it’s a good evening.
