Hi all,
I went for the final stage of the job interview on 06/04/2016. I don’t think I actually interviewed on the phone interview side of things which was the next step but that was more of an informal chat than anything else and only took 10 minutes. I heard back the next day that I’d have an interview for the aforementioned date if I was interested.
The final part of this was a 3 hour assessment day involving various activities.
The day started with a video to explain what the day was about and that it didn’t matter about technical knowledge at this stage because it was all about great people skills and creating a customer experience.
The first part after that was an a fun technical quiz which was done in very light humour throughout between myself and three other candidates, whilst there were 7 assessors, nothing like feeling a little outmanned lol, but it was fine and went well I felt.
The second part was to work as a team with the other candidates to explain 3 apps and then present the apps to the customers to explain exactly what they do and what benefit they can have on their life.
We had 15 minutes to decide what we were going to do and who would do what but a question popped into my head about the ‘customers’ side of things so I asked if these were real customers, turns out they were people off the street and that was like oooookay that shakes things up a little bit and threw all of our plans out of the window pretty much.
So I had to take charge and explain what we’d need to do and to treat this as though they are people coming in off the street for any random query but this time we’ve been given a heads up on what it is about, so it is all about engaging them in conversation, leading them into telling us what they’re looking for and then us explaining how these apps can benefit them.
When the presentation began it was all about making it informal and making the people feel comfortable. I felt we got through it well and I was complimented by the group saying I did really well and whilst that was nice. I know exactly how difficult it has been to get to this stage myself and I am in competition with these people so I felt bad as there are only a limited number of vacancies and these seem like nice people.
I think that’s what I don’t like about those kind of interviews, you become close due to conditioning with people you may never see again, it’s somewhat sad in that regard.
After the presentation we had a 10 minute break or so and then the individual part of the assessment began, with two random elements a phone call and a skype conversation (typing) I’d done a lot of prep for these in some regards so this bit I felt was probably my strongest and I had a lot of laughs with the customers who remained as well.
I think overall it went as well as it could have done, now I need to wait around 7 – 10 days to find out if I have the job or not, so fingers crossed as it were.
I’ve a meeting with my current employer on Friday and I have to admit, I’m tempted to hand in my notice come Friday as well. I’ll not go back there, at least not in any full capacity, maybe for a few days just to say goodbye to some people and that’s about it but even though I’ve been there twice my entire mood has changed to a somewhat vicious one, it’s not somewhere I belong anymore. I’ll have a dwell on that over the next 24 hours.
Anyway, thanks for reading if you got this far, boring entry I know. More just for me this one lol.

Wow that's really a lot to go through for a job! My husband just got a new position and it took only a few days for the whole process! I've never had an interview experience like yours, sounds nightmarish! Fingers crossed for you, hope it goes well!
