"NO EXPECTATIONS?" in "WRITER@WORK: Chunks of My Life and Other Stories to Share"

Expect the unexpected. That usually helps you to reduce disappointment. This is the world where anything goes.
A lot of unhappy expressions can be heard in these statements:
*”I’ve done everything for you/us/him/her/them and look what I’ve got in return!”
“How could you? After all I gave?”
“How come no one would date me? I’m a nice guy/good girl!”
“I’ve got to make them see/show them that I’m the man/in charge here!”*
Or perhaps this really odd conversation:
*”No, I don’t want to do it. It’s not going to happen. Don’t push me.”
“I’m not expecting anything.”
“Yet you still tried. I’ve already told you I’m not ready for it.”
“Can’t blame a guy for trying.”
“Oh, really? If you say that you’re not expecting anything from me, then why the hell do you keep on asking me to do the same damn thing? Haven’t you heard me say ‘no’, like three times already? Are you not respecting me, like at all?”*
Let’s just be honest with ourselves, shall we? We all basically want rewards, even just a little. We are only human; we are no saints nor angels. Nobody is that good.
Practising ’unconditional love’ between humans is not easy, almost a utopia these days. It is easier said than done, even if one happens to be oh-so-generally kind. Only a few can really do. Are they even me or you?
Still, not everything is under your control. This life is not just about you and what you want.
What are you going to do? Are you going to make them pay or just let them go? Is it even worth it?
To some people, loneliness can be a pain. Still, complaining to the world about why guys/girls will not date you does not really show that you are a nice guy/good girl. You do not need their existence in your life as living proofs that you are one. Come on, you are much better than that. Be the best version of yourself by being genuinely kind to others. Believe in you.
It is the same thing to those who often say: ”I’ve got to make them see/show them that I’m the man/in charge here!” Well, then you are not if you think that you still need to do that.
Say what you mean, mean what you say. Do your best, even with no mortal audience around. If it is true that you are not expecting anything from anyone like you say you are, then do not make them feel like there is always a ’catch’ whenever they are with you!
