Lily's Dad's Side Sunday, December 11, 2011

I took Lily to her dad's house for the first time on Friday night. I was very scared because Lily had been saying she didn't want her "dad to be her dad." Then she told me she wanted Grandpa to be her dad. She said she didn't love her dad anymore. This all stemmed from when her dad was at our house and he had to leave. She got very upset and to protect herself she decided that having no dad was easier than having a daddy that comes and goes all the time. It amazes me how smart children are and how in touch with her feelings Lily is for age 3.

So the whole visit went really well. Then something interesting happened. Lily's dad's brother walked into the house. Her father has not told him about her yet. He walked in and smiled with a shocked look on his face and said, "Hi!" so I said, "hi!" We talked briefly and then I knew it was time to get Lily ready to go. So I got everything together and before I could get going Lily started yelling, "Daddy!" He was upstairs so I quickly quieted her and took her upstairs. His brother was not in the same room, but could have easily heard her. Finally I got her out to the car and her dad came with us and I told him she had yelled "daddy."

Later that night he called me and said that his brother had said nothing about the whole thing. But then, today he called me and said that his brother had spoke to him again. He said that he knew Lily was his niece and knew the minute he saw her. Then his brother told him that he wants to see her again and get to know her. This makes me feel wonderful. She finally met her last uncle!

It will probably be a long time before she meets his mom and dad though.

Tomorrow are my finals. Then I get a break from school. Thank God. I need a break. I have hardly even studied for these. I just can't get motivated to do it. Oh well.

Gotta go,

Her

Found you on front page. I hope my daughters dad will be like that someday. Or the kids I am taking care of! I don't have high hopes though. PS Found a pic entry your daughter is so precious. [everything*changes]
