Lily's Father is Slowing Becoming a Daddy Monday, October 03, 2011

Just wanted to say that Lily's dad came to see her again yesterday. She was very shy around him this time. It's so hard and confusing for her. But, I want to keep him coming so that she can get used to him. He brought her a present, which was very nice. She loves getting presents (who doesn't?) but she had a hard time going to it and opening it. I am sure it will get better for them. They just need to get to know each other.

His text message from today:

"I am so sorry for not having been with you the past few years. But you carried your load well and respected my selfish wishes. I have no problem admitting my short comings. I hope you've forgiven me. I'll do my best to make her a successful girl."

The message makes me feel like he appreciates all that I have done with Lily. It's really makes me think that he is going to really take an interest in Lily now. I hope so, but not for me or for him. For her. She deserves a father. She is such an amazing child who loves people unconditionally. She deserves the world.

I wish I could keep writing, but I have to be up soon. Gotta go to clinicals tomorrow!
