look, up in the sky
he’s up all the night
there’s no reason why
no bird and no plane
stuck on the ground going insane
it’s normal man

he’s fast faster fasting all day
trying to be lighter than a locomotive
able to leap to conclusions
if they’ll absolve him of blame
it’s normal man

strange visitor from the world inside his head
occasionally visiting Earth with the ability
to rationalize far beyond those of mortals

normal man
who can change only because he has to
bending to the will of others
disguised as someone who can fit in
shuffling through days looking down
fighting a never-ending battle to stop fighting it
to delay facing the truth
because whether it’s just or not
that is the American way

look, up in the sky
he’s up all the night
there’s no reason why
