the bathwater in poetry

on Catalina once did we
a stately pleasure-dome decree
or a modest hotel room anyway
though the sills
a stiff ocean breeze
Julia Child in black-and-white
on the teevee
it was like a dream
no matter how it ended
for one brief moment
on Avalon were we
despite how quickly
it was swallowed by the sea
