"Thar goes...." in At the foot of the hill

…is what my then year-old granddaughter said every time her daddy backed out of the driveway to go to work. She would stand at the window and wave until his pickup disappeared over the hill.
That’s how I felt this morning when Bob loaded up his push cart and left the house for the first day at his volunteer tax aid site. He worked at one of the other sites Monday, as a counselor. He is “coordinator” at “his” site on Wednesdays, and counsels (prepares returns) at other sites on Fridays and Saturdays. He’s pretty much tied down now until mid-April.
I guess it’s been three years now since I worked as a counselor, sometimes with him and sometimes at other places. The main reason I gave it up was my hearing… When people are giving you personal information, you can’t keep asking them to talk louder! I do kind of miss being part of what he’s doing, but its for the best I think.
The storm is out of here and causing havoc further east by now. Hope all my friends are safe.
