embedded in poetry

America went to bed business-casual
America woke up a business-casualty
that’s the business of business you see
that’s the sad business causality.

We got embedded to witness the money
ended up simply in bed with the money
priorities got twisted by the money
now we’re witless it’s not even funny
anymore.

We’ve forgotten to remember our dreams from last night
we’ve forgotten to remember our childhood dreams too
we’ve forgotten to remember that we are dreams
in the sleep of reality’s vast darkness
piffles like us shouldn’t take things
so goddamned seriously.

It suits you fine
to wear a suit or else be fined
you think it makes you so refined
but life is short and
shorts are what I want to be wearing
when I finally wake up.
