Taizé service today. in The odd entries from life …….

I got up earlier this Sunday morning, we had a Taizé Service again today, my aim was to be there on time but something get in my way, this time it was letting Ziggy and Lola out fore two minuets that lasts five, but I didn’t miss anything getting there at two minuets after ten; they were still setting up the computer, digital projection a connecting them to the Church’s sound system.

The Taizé Service is a series of very short prayers said or sing in a chant style, there are two readings and a time of silence in the middle of about five to ten minuets. A the start we are given small candles that that are lit, the lighting starts at the front and the light is passed on; there are no books needed so we hold the light through the service.

The Taizé Service is low sound; we have time to contemplate our faith and things that come to each. After the silence we have a chance to go to the front to light candles, with our candle we light one of the other candles while thinking of a issue or a trouble, I asked for help for those who had taken their own life and for those left in pain.

These services come from a ecumenical community in Taizé France, I like these services as a change from the usual service, the chance to contemplate in parts of the service is very useful in a way I cant in the weekly services.

I shall be in and out of the Church lately from Friday though to Tuesday this week, on Friday I was there to meet the new Minister who will start in March, today of course, tomorrow I will be there with Richard and Ron who do much of the upkeep, I felt I should help but I think tomorrow will be a walk round and a coffee brake. Tuesday afternoon is the drop in gathering, chat and coffee, they happen once a month but I was else where for the last drop-in.

This Church is low in numbers at the moment, but they have a large and warm hart.
