I'm still here... in Day to Day

I haven’t written for so long. I spend so much time working and doing things I have to do, I get no time for things I want to do. It’s the same for almost everyone I suppose. Lets have a look at what’s been happening in my life:

Christmas was fun. I went down to Devon with the family and did the conventional thing. There was much eating and merriment of course, and I bought some good presents and received some too. I thin the boy got everything he wanted. I have been given licence to upgrade our desktop PC at home. It does need to be upgraded. Also got a new ukulele stand. That’s very good actually because it can now stand in the corner of the room and I pick it up just because it’s there. With the piano, guitar, and ukulele, my brother says we are turning in to the Von Trap family.

Didn’t do anything special at New Year. Watched fireworks from the window.

I’m officially a fat bastard. I stood on the scales after New Year knowing full well that I needed to lose some weight. It was simply a question of how much. And for the first time in my life I think, I’ve on the wrong side of 70kg. I’ve already lost 1.3 kg.

Coming back to work was a bit of an effort. We’re into the second week now. It’s getting easier, but not much. I’m looking forward to Spring. Spring makes everything better. Sunshine, I most definitely need sunshine. Oddly enough, it’s just past mid-winter and suddenly it’s started getting colder.

The boy got his martial arts black belt. Maybe I mentioned that already. I was a very proud daddy that day. He’s the youngest at his school to achieve that level.

I took the boy to see the peanuts film at the cinema. I liked it. They must have been making Snoopy films for 50 years now, and they still have exactly the same feel. Not all long running cartoons can do that. Have you watched Scooby Doo recently? It’s changed over the years.

We’ve also been to Longleat to see the festival of lights. Loads of amazing Chinese lanterns.

I’ve just read that the queen’s 90th birthday celebrations will take the form of a street party held in the Mall on 12th June. That’s 24 hours before the London World Naked Bike Ride is scheduled to ride down the Mall. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if Her Majesty was there doing an inspection when we cycled by.

On the subject of nudity, here is a fascinating piece from the Independent, which may be NSFW.

More later.
