The Name Of The Rose by Umberto Eco (493 pages) is one of those layered books that requires more than one read to really understand the two plots. Or maybe the fact that I was struggling to concentrate on the story at times (due to working night shifts - I was torn between sleep and trying to finish this book) is an excuse to pick up the book again.

In 1327, Brother William of Baskerville and his acquaintance Adso of Melk, a young novice, find themselves at an abbey in Italy on religious business. Problem is that, from the pair’s arrival, mysterious deaths start to occur. The pair soon find their services are stretched as they are roped into trying to find out the who dunnit. The story takes place over the course of a week, and is one of those books that deserves it’s success. The last part was a quick, sad read as I realised the story was coming to an end. I wanted to find out more of the couple’s adventures.

This book was started on 8th January and finished at around 2am this morning.

Books Read: 3/52 (Pages Read So Far: 990)
