Icons And Sex With Young Girls in Voices Windward

Like a lot of people today I’ve just spent a while refreshing my opinions of groupies, peadophiles and the nature of the relationship between powerful men and the young girls who want them.

I feel that context is important, and the opinions of those involved is valuable.

I read worlds like Assaulted/ Raped/ Kidnapped from angry groups, individuals and politically minded websites, but never from Lori or Sables mouths… infact they seem to begrude the victimisation put on them, they didn’t see themselves as prey.

Reality is tho, Adults should have the responsibility not to sleep with children (mentally or physically) particulary with a ongoing and predatory nature and the defense of celebrity is disturbing, particulary when these women were gloated about in various songs and books.

They may choose to enjoy it, celebrate the “almost famous” drive but it makes me uncomfortable for sure and I recon as a society our attitudes regarding sex and the way we treat other humans is disturbing.

I don’t believe in weighting someones artistic merits on the conflicting things that happened in the past, but we shouldn’t be so will to aquience to celebrity appeal.

But hey it happened int he 70’s, thats the apologism, that’s what makes people OK and hey, Rock n Roll eh?

Well it’s happening now too, Not just in the sexually driven Rap and Metal scenes but in our political arena too, not just to girls but to boys… people treating less powerful people as prey.

Again we kind of glaze over becuase it’s removed people in lofty places…

But again it is not. Right now you’ll find groups of people using social pressure to force girls to have sex with several boys over a party, consent is imposed upon people… you don’t want to be a prude.... “We have popularity, we can use you.”

In metal culture the Nypthetamine is celebrated and desired, I know more than a few girls who have tossed themselves with reckless abandon at bands, not all of them mature enough to deal with it… and as guys we’re told that if we join a band and become awesome enough, we’ll get to fuck groupies as well.

Well I don’t want to fuck groupies, and I don’t think you should want to either.... is my point.

Like Scroobius Pip says;

“Thou shalt not use poetry, art or music to get into girls’ pants. Use it to get into their heads”

We have to curtail the predatory antics of the powerful, whether they are celebrities , politicians or the local gang… we ALSO have to remeber that young girls and boys are people too, they have idenities and choice, and it’s up to them, at the time and through out their lives to decided if they are a victim… We don’t get to choose to decide whether that was sexual empowerment for them or not.

We can only try as a society to figure out what we have a problem with and foster a zeitgeist where there is less of that.

The music is awesome, joy has been brought to many, in many respects these people, Bowie, Bolan, Page, Fowley, Iggy etc etc have done a lot of good in the world, and tho we might enjoy their powerful poetry and dream of their life style for the wild mash ups they were, we, I think she seek to have a balanced opinion of them and not choose to be ignorant of certain realities we might find uncomfortable.

Us this bi-partisan information to think about our modern environ and how we can makes sure we don’t have another 70’s to apologise/negate/ignore for in 30 years.
