Re; The Bundy Federal building occupation… and I suppose many things that cause a barny, like Germaine Greer and Non Human Animals First…

Should we show support to people taking political action we approve of, when they political ideas on other matters are danergous and abusive?

Let’s just clarify Cliven Bundy’s tone....

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

There are truths in the lies there mind, a little comment about the prolitariate in a capitalist system, just enough for apologist to forgive the stench of racism, but it’s clear from this and other comment that the Bundy Ranch and their affiliates very much fit the bill of right wing libertarian racists.

Now I applaud the taking of federal buildings mind and by chomsky’s beard we all know that even the left have occasionally forgot the grub, drank a few too many had a tussle and yes, had pilfering going on, so I’m not a massive fan of the loose mockery and spam which seems to be the favoured weapon of online comrades these days, I just think we have to respond better, if at all.

Context is all important here too… Nearly ever article on the thing makes a weak validation by just saying “Right wing ranchers … did a thing” There is minimal validation for wheather they should be supported or not, minus radical media sources.

It’s not enough really, we need to understand, or should atleast try too.

The taking of the federal building was a retort to the government ordering two other ranchers back to prision?

Their crime?

Setting wildfires on public land becuase they been illigally hunting dear on them… A crime they have already been found guilty of.

The movement gained initial wait after a stand off over Teh bundy ranch failing to pay their taxes for the use of public land, (remember America has civil not common law and tho thats legit over here, there, it is not) na protest that saw LEOs faced with weapons.

I guess we also be shocked that the right wing protestors get treated in a manner utterly removed from how black protestors or the left in general do… but Government agenct and the right wing, whether liberarian or nationalist are bezzy pals and always have been.

So they are the enemy then, but like the National Front kicking off with badger baiters, they are doing something we should approve off but for the right reason and to my other example Greer talking about women’s rights while retaining an aborant attitude to Trans people....

What’s to be done in these situations?

I don’t really know, thats why I’m asking in my loose ranty manner…

Right now I’m in favour of a mixuture of awareness, apathy and selective applause… I think the best response is not of negation but education.

When our enemy or our enemies friends take a middle ground course, we might be best knowing they are doing it, understanding the context, educating against it if need be but not necessarily weaking it as there may be valid points and actions occouring.

Context is all important.
