Yes. I’m writing again. I’ve been waiting on the same Mod for 3 hours. My predecessor suggests I should just roll with it. I can’t call any other Mods because I’m officially waiting for one to show up and I’m getting paid to just sit here. But my mind with nothing to occupy it? It would be an endless cycle of picking apart Marriage Problems, Job Problems, Job Hunt Problems, Schedule Issues, etc. My mind longs to be an active mind.
So… Powerball at “historic levels” (as said the commissioner)… possible $800 million up for grabs. Even after taxes AND taking the lump sum… that would be around $300 million. So the question is… what would you do with it?
Call me a bastard (not really cuz I don’t think this is inappropriate) but
I’d pay off my debts first; then pay off the Law School debts of my 3 closest friends. I’d give $100k as a College Fund to my brother’s daughter and $100k as a College Fund to my good friend’s son. THEN I’d start getting selfish.
I’d buy a large plot of land somewhere in Iowa. Large. Large enough that I could build two houses on it and ride horses. Because I would also get horses. And build two houses. One house to rent out and/or make available to family/friends who may need a place to live. One house to live in. I’d finally have the house I wanted. And two dogs. And possibly build the Night Club/Comic Book store I’ve wanted to build. And get a car. LoL.
But really (because that is a LOT of money) I’d do some other charitable and productive things. Certainly invest in some Mental Health facilities. Some rehab facilities. Really try to win back the war against the less fortunate in those ways. I’d probably send Wife back to school so she could get a degree in something she would want to turn into a career.
And here’s the strange thing. I would have to work. Not working, not contributing, not doing something with myself… drives me crazy, poisons my soul. But for the life of me, I can’t tell you what I’d do. I can’t say for sure if I’d try to bribe my way onto a County Attorney slot… or if I’d use the money to run for an office… or if I’d go into something back in Theater… or Video Games… or anything. Ultimately, as far as career thinking goes… if “everything” was the limit… I’m not sure what I’d do.
