Not to sound too archaic but society seems to have twisted the masses into a knot of stress and pixeled existence. We shimmer in LED light and our air is pumped through machinery, cooled and heated. Filtered from all that comes from the living outside our closed and hermetically sealed windows.
We swell up, are scourged with rashes, and sneeze at the slightest exposure at anything made in nature. I read an article recently where allergens were being discussed. The MD at the end recommended that parents best remedy for fighting childhood allergies was to have their children eat dirt. Although he jested in action he meant the message to be clear. Exposure to the elements of the earth made you resistant to the pestilence found in most things.
I grew up in a country setting. No, I did not eat spiders and minimized my dirt intake. Ultimately I was a dirty little turd. Cleaning my hands involved a good wipe on my dirty jeans or for tougher jobs a rinse in a nearby puddle/ river/ lake. I have no allergies, I cannot recall the last time I suffered with the flu or caught a cold for that matter.
The message I am trying to share is about the world about us. It is too easy to encase ourselves within the multimedia, electronic fingertips kind of world. The forest should beckon you. The trail lure you out to actually see the beautiful scenery that currently is the wallpaper of your computer screen.
Time to get a little dirty my friends.
