Last week, I applied to a job for an Assistant County Attorney position in a city that is almost exactly equi-distance from my parents and my in laws. The job posting expressly stated “prosecute simple misdemeanors” which is something I have experience doing. If I don’t even get an interview with this place; I’ll be furious. A job offer would be wonderful!
BUT, I checked jobs again today.... and there was an opening for Assistant County Attorney in the county where my brother and sister and niece live. THAT job would be great because I am truly friends with my brother; my wife is friends with her sister in law; and we both adore our niece. Frankly, I rather doubt that the County is honestly looking, though. The posting had all the marks of “courtesy” posting.... it said “Job Open: 12/19” but the posting was dated 12/22. The post ending date was 12/29… which means the position is “open” for exactly 10 days… 6 of which are ‘non business days.’ So… I’m certainly not expecting to hear back from them. But I will admit… it would be lovely.
I mean… come on! I feel like I’ve been getting put through my paces; paying some dues.... it’s about time for one of my attempts at a job to pay off and actually become a job!
