Y’know, having a chronic pain condition is horrible. I know that I’m not alone when I say that I’m in pain 24 hours a day. A LOT of my facebook friends are in the same boat.
But what really bothers me is that we have to censor ourselves when we go to the doctors. We don’t want to seem like drug seekers, so we don’t say “I’m in agony! Please make it stop!” We tell them what they want to hear, they give us drugs that don’t work on our pain because they don’t know the whole truth. We don’t go to the ER because we are instantly labeled as soon as they hear us say “I have fibro/lupus/chronic back pain” or whatever invisible illness you have. They literally say “we can’t treat your pain. Take some ibuprofen”.
We are making ourselves suffer. It’s ridiculous that we have to do this.
I wish I could come up with an answer to stop this from happening… I hate that we are all in pain. I hate that the doctors don’t seem to want to help us when we ARE honest.
I just don’t know what to do. :sigh:
