Tim had his cardiac cath on Wednesday. If you follow me on Facebook you already know the deets, but for those who don't, they found a blockage in one of his old stents and put a new stent in and opened the artery. He did fine, the procedure was probably less than an hour from start to finish. He continued to have chest pain off and on for about 24 hours but it seems like it is slowly going away. As far as I can tell from constantly asking if he is having chest pain, it is at least substantially less, as in brief chest pain once a day down from several times a day. His new cardiologist (who is young and HOT by the way) said that it's pretty common (around 40% occurance) for some people to have chest pain after placing a stent as the artery stretches back out and the stent settles. I imagine that putting one in under/inside an old one probably makes it worse, but I am cautiously optimistic. He should go back to work on Monday, which is a hell of a lot sooner than it was the last time we went through all of this in 2009. I feel like he was out of work for like two weeks that time, but his recovery seems to be MUCH faster and smoother this time. I remember him being very tired and sort of weak after that time, and he seems pretty much normal right now, though he has had a few instances of his old fatigue. I am also a little hopeful that this will ease some of those symptoms that he was having, the waves of exhaustion, etc. The cardiologist printed out pictures of before and after of his artery and showed me, and it looked like he had a pretty good blockage there, definitely more than the 15% or so that it was when they placed the first two stents in 2009. It was a relief to know that there was SOMETHING wrong with him and that this would hopefully fix it, rather than what I expected, which was for them to scratch their heads and say, I don't know, again. I told Tim that I was glad his cardiologist was so young, I felt like maybe that meant his medical training was a little more up to date than the ancient asshole he was seeing previously. His family dr referred him to this cardiologist, so he needs to follow up on that and get his files transferred so that he can just see Dr. Young Hottie from now on.
Let's not even talk about how soon Christmas is. We have done no decorating, I have not wrapped any of the presents I have bought and I only just started online shopping tonight after it got slow at work. I may have found someone online selling a 2DS for Savino, if the lady responds to my message to her. I have to look through what I have already purchased and stashed away and figure out what's what. I need to track down an XBox 360 for Chantal's kids, I found a deal on the Live Gold membership and purchased that, it will be a relief to have all of that taken care of. We HAVE to put up a Christmas tree this weekend, come hell or high water. Savino is pretty despondent that we have not gotten anything ready yet.
Speaking of Savino, Thursday morning he helped me clean the downstairs so that the house would be clean when Tim got home. This is the first time that I have been in the same room with him while he was doing his own cleaning thing, and it is amazing how much this kid IS MINE. He is so methodical about cleaning, and I have never "taught" him how to clean the way I had to teach Haley. He either absorbed it like a sponge from watching me, or he is just hardwired like me. He has his method down, first he picked up all the dishes or things that went to the kitchen and took care of that, then he picked up all his toys (and I mean ALL, not just the ones that were laying about) and put them away upstairs, then he picked up trash and went through the mail on the coffee table and asked me which ones I needed to keep and what could be thrown away, he straightened the pillows and blankets on the couch, he put all the shoes where they belong, and put all the TV remotes together in one spot on the coffee table and organized all the game stuff on the TV stand. When he got done, he looked around and said, "OK, now I'm going to do the dining room table" and repeated the procedure. He did the dining room table, the side table in the dining room and the computer desk. When he was done, it was actually clean almost to my standard of cleaning. The only things he doesn't do at this point is wipe things down with cleaner and a cloth and sweep, and I am pretty sure if I showed him how to do that, he would do it too. He isn't always so easy about cleaning, if I ask him to do it while he's engrossed in video games, then forget it, there's bitching and moaning and tears, but if he is in the mood to clean, he cleans. It's just so bizarre. But I am not complaining, with his help I had the downstairs clean and presentable in less than half an hour, including the kitchen.
Well, it is time for me to head home finally and break the weekend in. I hope that everyone stays nice and warm and dry, we are supposed to get sucky snow again, but only just enough to make life miserable. Oh well!
