Stuck. in A small but passable life.

Thanksgiving was good. It was the daughter’s first time to cook the bird. It turned out great. She also cooked a ham in the crockpot. And everything else was homemade by her and her mother. I made the mashed tators. With real butter.

So yeah, good times. Good food.

I haven’t opened a book since finishing the last book. I’m at thirty books read for 2015 so far. I still have a half dozen books on my hold list. Just waiting.

Yesterday I actually ventured outside for the first time since I don’t know when. I rode with Jassy downtown. I figured that since she was burning fossil fuel anyway that I could ride along. I had to go to the credit union because awhile ago I noticed that my debit card had expired a couple of months ago. They had sent me another one but when Jassy was activating it they asked for a phone number. That was the end of the line for that call. I had to go in in person and have them activate it. Now it’s good for two years.

So yeah, I’ve not been reading. I’ve been watching intelligent people doing debates and discussions on youtube. I used to watch hours and hours of BookTv way back before the internet and when I had cable. I’m still amazed at how hard it is for people to ask a simple and coherent question during the Q & A’s.

Oh yeah, I finished watching all five seasons of “Misfits”. It was stupid, funny and pretty entertaining. I’d recommend it.

What I really need to do is get out and walk. That six months of the last year that I’d spent in the desert all I wanted to do was come home and walk the sidewalks. When I lived in the van I had to walk most every day. I walked to get food. I walked to somewhere to get either warm or cool for the day. I walked just out of a need to move and breathe.

I’ve been back nearly six weeks now and I’ve hardly been outside. That’s not good.

Liam Dog needs to get out on the sidewalks too. His toenails are getting long. For the last six months he hasn’t needed to be taken out and walked. Now he just goes outside to the yard and does his business and comes right back in. And I really do miss taking him out for walks. He probably misses it too.

Anyway, getting away from the interwebs for even just a little bit can’t hurt.
