Well I made it thru day 21 and then life and deer season happened. Last weekend was busy, cold and we received our first snow on Saturday morning. It didn’t accumulate and did look pretty and no matter how old I get, that first snow brings an awe as I see the white snowflakes fly through the air and land. At first it melted on contact and then after an hour or so it started sticking to the grass and other plants.
Saturday afternoon I went to the baby shower and I was a little disappointed in the young mom to be as she barely pulled gifts all the way out to include my sewn with love stuff. She was enamored with the tiny clothes, socks, bows, shoes, etc that others had given as gifts. Guess I was expecting at least an oooooo or ahhhhhh but the only receiving blanket she actually unfolded was the butterfly one. Ah well, she is young and has no clue how much time it took. However, it is a lesson learned. I will post pictures of her gifts in either this entry or another future entry. Not sure if I uploaded on my computer or not.
Rain is coming back today and lasting all weekend. BLAH!!!
I took off today to prepare for tomorrow. There will only be 13 of us tomorrow but dad had gotten a 20 lb turkey and a bone in ham. Have you seen the little clip on FB yet of the woman wrestling with the turkey that is too heavy for her? I’m seriously afraid that may be me with this turkey. My upper body strength is not wonderful and a slippery 20 lb bird makes me a bit nervous. It is in the garage fridge defrosting and I need to check it in a bit and make sure it is defrosting ok. If not, a sink full of cold water and getting it back out without dropping it may be the first miracle of the next couple of days.
Not feeling right yesterday or this morning. Not sure why but really thought I was going to fall out last night. I started on the cranberry salad fixings when I got home yesterday afternoon and there is lots of chopping. I had gotten a Papa Murphy’s pizza to bake for supper so we ate while the jello and cranberry stuff were setting up. Then I added the “good stuff”. Crushed pineapple, chopped walnuts, chopped (sorta) creme cheese, chopped apples. Sometime during this mixing I started feeling not so good. Not sick just exhausted and light headed. Had things to put away and in the fridge and put the left over pizza in the fridge and was praying that I wouldn’t pass out. I came to my chair, laid it back and went instantly to sleep. Woke up around 10 and went to bed. Course I woke up at 4:15 and still feel a little weird, but will march on. I will take a double dose of allergy meds this morning as maybe it has to do with muck in my nose and head. Hate HATE have a perpetual runny nose.
J got a deer. If you are on my FB you saw a picture of him and his brother. It is a 7 pointer and I will get it mounted for him. Now for those of you who are wondering....no J did not shoot it, Dude did, but J was with him. It is a long story, and if you need more splainin I can do it later. With the successful harvest, the weekend was very busy. Dude and his family stayed here Sat evening and Sunday. Now I know why I’m so tired during Thanksgiving week. Having company the two weekends preceding a holiday make preparation of you home a bit hit and miss.
Going to end this for now and want to wish each one of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for all of my old friends and the new ones I now have. Thankful for this forum to meet in the cyber way new friends.
