I should have been home from Portsmouth today, as things worked out I was back yesterday, I had a phone call on the early morning of my first day, my daughter had fallen on the stares; as she is Ziggy’s main handler that meant we had two problems! Just what had my Daughter had dun to her ankle, and who would deal with Ziggy; Sweetheart finds it difficult to handle Ziggy as he knows he is the stronger. So my three day visit was suddenly an over-nighter, and just one rushed visit with Mum; thankfully I had spent the previous evening with my Sister and Brother-in-law!
When I arrived at the home Mum was in the lounge, taking part in a quiz and looking like she was enjoying herself, once she noticed me in the door-way; she got up and set of using her frame. Once out of the lounge it was ‘I can’t stay here’ and our conversations were about walking home, a long walk in two senses as the home she talks about is three hundred miles away; and a home that hasn’t excited in forty years. I told her way I was returning home early, but it seemed not to register her, I stayed with her until it was their lunch time, for a time it seemed she might be awkward; some where going towards the front door she followed others to the dinning room; sitting at the table I kissed her on the forehead and left.
Back at the apartment I had prepared ever thing so I could take an earlier train, I phoned for a taxi and arrived at the station three minutes before the train left Portsmouth, I was quite pleased to be away an hour early; there is always a but! This first train lost time so I arrived a minute or two after my second train had left; so the hour I had gained was squandered waiting at Westbury for the next ‘Cornishman’ an hour later. I arrived back at my usual time, plus nine minutes – the ‘Cornisman’ was late!
With the change of plans my only chance for photography was in that gifted hour waiting at Westbury! On the Monday dusk as the train was approaching Portsmouth there was a beautiful sunset seen over a marsh and also seen through a wooded area, alas I was on the wrong side of the carriage; and the windows were dirty ………
This very long train of oar- carriers arrived quietly and waited a short time, a few minutes later it left sounding like the gates of hell slamming too …. We were all wide awake when the Cornishman arrived!
Other wise it was a lovely sunset!
My Daughter has a strained ankle, she’s getting around in a carful way, there well be no agility classes for a few weeks; I except!
