What’s the best memory you have before age 15?
Now this is a tough one, to narrow it down. I have so many good memories of growing up. I suppose one of my favorites were spending time with my cousins in the city. There were five of them of various ages, three were in their teens when were were tweens, and the other two were our age. We would spend hours and hours playing hide and seek, well into the dark hours, up and down the street with all the other kids that lived there, everyone was friends then. We would hide any where we could, but my favorite spot was high up in the cherry tree in my cousin’s backyard. We spend a lot of time together, whenever my parents and aunt and uncle would go out, which was frequent in those days, we’d all stay at my Gramma’s house down the street from my cousin’s. We spent many a New Year’s Eve together, with my Gramma, celebrating it up, all seven kids up and loud with Gramma, dancing, playing music and around 11pm we would have a big meal, then celebrate Hogmanay with my cousins bringing in bread and wine and a new calendar. My older cousin and I would spend the night at my Gramma’s and do makeup and hair on each other and the mannequin head we had to mess around with.
I have to say I really do miss those traditions we had.
Sadly my cousins and I really only talk when we have to these days, usually at funerals. This getting old and drifting apart is stupid, lol.
Happy Sunday, I hope you all have a wonderful day with your loved ones.
