At last - an opportunity to make an entry on here when everything seems to be working pretty well.
Two weeks time it will be Christmas Eve - and we are slowly getting things together - I took delivery of the cards I painted and have been printed to send out as Christmas cards - and we are about a third of the way through the list - I write the cards and SW... does the envelopes and checks off who se have sent to. I guess we will send around 90 or so - and with the price of stamps we are sending packets to people to distribute to the families near them. I reckon people like to get a special card - and many keep them from year to year. Sending to Europe is now 88p, and first class in the UK 60 p. No wonder more people are sending e-cards - or no cards at all.
We are going to be on our own over Christmas - apart from sharing a meal on Christmas Day with neighbours down the road who are also on their own. We are looking forward to having a quiet time after the hectic events of the next two weeks.
A couple of carol concerts to go to - a dinner tomorrow night - a party over the weekend - Christmas goodies (hot port and ham and turkey sandwiches) after two walks next week. And I still have to paint a couple of special cards, especially for the lady who designs and prints my own cards - I do not feel she should get one of those from us.
So, the Mandela Fest will soon be over - OK, he was a great man given what he had experienced - but the news boys have covered just about every angle - and there was talk of the Pope starting the beatification process even though Mandela was not religious, He is now a secular saint - and everyone seemed to want to get in on the act at the Memorial Service - and Obama does a good speech - even if things are falling apart at home.
Strictly Come Dancing is going into its last two weeks and it is difficult to choose between the couples - I actually hope the lovely Abbey who was know only as the wife of a footballer and an underwear model comes good. She has really blossomed, found real confidence - and shows a nice personality - she should make the final then it is everything to play for. Susanna, who presents the breakfast show on BBC, was lucky to get through on the votes of all those men who hope she shows her knickers on the sofa at 7.30 in the morning - which occasionally she does for the eagle-eyed - although given what the men are doing while watching they should be nearly blind. Anyway, she shows enough leg when dancing to keep them happy - but as voyeurs know, you want to catch a glimpse without them knowing!
Anyway, enough of this persiflage - serious stuff now - what do I want for Christmas?
