Well That Sucks. in Inside My Head

I just was reviewing my work schedule and realized that my job has me scheduled to work New Years Eve and Christmas. I also worked Labor Day, July 4th, and Memorial Day. Apparently, I’m special. I was told that I would work only 3 holidays. I sent an email to the administator. I have 2 job interviews on Tuesday. It would suck if I left my job because you need to be working for an employer for 12 months in order to qualify for maternity leave benefits and it takes 3-4 months to be credentialed by the hospital. I would essentially lose half a year.
I’m so frustrated by my employer. I have worked there since 2010. I used to work for neurosurgical critical care, but the neurosurgeons are shutting down their practice at my hospital and starting elsewhere. My department started becoming really understaffed, and when I was 7 months pregnant I had had enough. I switched to internal medicine and have been working there since. Now they’re screwing with my schedule too. You have an employee that’s loyal and relatively hard working…why screw them over? You’ll have to go through the process of interviewing, credentialing, and training someone new. It doesn’t make sense. Unless they’re trying to push me out which may be a possibility.
The whole hospital is losing money because the neurosurgeons are taking their business to another hospital. These guys are millionaires and they’re going elsewhere to make more money. They’re completely screwing everyone in the neurosurgery department, as well as other departments because we depended on their business for consults. The medical field is just like Wall Street.
It’s 4:19 am…my rant is over. I’m so used to be woken up by Sam every 2-3 hours. For once he’s sleeping through the night and I can’t sleep. I have to be up in 40 minutes to get ready for work.
