Oh Rainy London in Adventures in paradise

And there I go blowing another 86 pounds lol.
I’m back here at the hostel typing because I am so over this rain! It was meant to be SUNNY today. SUN-NY!
See the symbol next to Friday? That’s a sun right??
So where the heck is it???
As soon as I walked out of the building, and the wind and the rain hit me, I was like sideshow bob -
But… this is the London experience. I can’t complain. I’m just trying to shake this damn cough and sore throat I’ve got going on. It was quite hot in this room last night and I was liking it because I hoped that would make me sweat it out but it’s still lingering.
So the sign I excitedly took a pic of yesterday of the weather map was completely misleading. The lady inside was probably wondering why I was taking a photo of her lol.
I have had a lucky few days. It’s just been overcast and only rained in periods. Today it hasn’t let up. My poor umbrella got turned inside out numerous times because the wind was too strong.
So I’m inside where it’s cozy and warm. There was a guy in here when I came back who’s pretty cute. He must’ve just checked in. His locker is right above mine so he stands right near my bed to access it. My room is a mix of people, including an older man around Andrew’s age and people from all over the world. The guy above me I think is also quite cute, but I haven’t seen his face properly yet, just his body . When he gets down from the top bunk, his crotch is pretty much level with me. I think I chose a good bed lol. I also see according to his card that he checks out of here the same day I do.
Whilst I was out, I grabbed Maccas for breakfast. I know, it’s terrible I’ve had that two days in a row now, but they seem to be cheap and I couldn’t work out what coins were what when I was paying for it today. Turns out I was ‘3 pence’ short so I grabbed out a 20 pound note and she was nice and just let me have it. I’m assuming 3 pence means 3 pennies? It’s weird seeing pennies because my country hasn’t had 1 and 2 cent coins in years. We’re even considering copying New Zealand and getting rid of the 5 cent.
As I was walking home, I popped into Topshop and bought a few more clothes. I barely have anything other than the two outfits I’ve brought, which need washing, so I blew another 86ish pounds on a new pair of Connies, a pretty cool cardigan/shirt thingy (I have no idea what they are called lol) and a beanie and a scarf. At least now I should be set for Europe. I’m just concerned that I am buying way too much stuff and that I won’t be able to stuff it all into my tiny suitcase. Especially the pair of shoes! But at least these shouldn’t leak like the one pair I’ve brought do.
I made a smart choice only bringing the small suitcase. There’s no way the people on the Tube would have appreciated me with a massive case in that tiny thing. I helped a lady yesterday lift three gigantic bags out of the lift. She was really stuggling. I have no idea how she was gonna get all three of them to wherever she was headed.
I will be getting another suticase before I leave for home, but I may be overdoing it too early. The fact of the matter is that I need more than one outfit, and at least I’ll have basically two now. I still only have the one shirt though and one undershirt and the one pair of jeans, but they will have to do for now. Jeans I can wear over and over. No-one should care.
Andrew is arriving into central London tonight. He wants to go grab a meal and a drink somewhere in Soho (the gay area). So that’s gonna be more money ergh.
Then Moe arrives today sometime. I don’t think I see him until next week though, but he’ll probably want to meet up.
I think I’ve already mentioned that the Irish guy I used to hook up with back in Australia wants me to go over and visit him, and my friend’s friend also wants to show me around. I’m not sure how he’d feel about that - ‘stealing his friend’.
I’ve chatted to a few friendly guys on Grindr, but generally it’s the same old shit - ie I send pics and they stop replying or suddenly ignoring me. I guess it’s a bit of pot-kettle-black as I don’t even reply to most guys I know I’m not gonna be interested in. So I try to see it from both perspectives - I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. Martin (Irish) warned me there’s apparently a new antibiotic-resistant strain of Gonny going around. Must be the same one Australia has.
I haven’t hooked up with anyone. I dunno if I will. Maybe, maybe not. Will just have to wait and see what happens.
The gay bar(s) should be interesting tonight. I need to set myself a limit.
This wouldn’t be so hard if work had just paid me my holiday pay, but I guess getting it weekly as usual makes things a little more safe.
It’s just really annoying that if I’m not careful, I could run out of money because banks don’t operate on weekends in Australia, so if I transfer money on a Friday (Thursday here), I wouldn’t see it until Monday (Sunday) or Tuesday (Monday), and I don’t get paid until Tuesday night there (Monday here), which means then doing the transfer and waiting another day for that to go through before I can use it here.
Ergh, you’d think in this day and age, shit like that would be instantaneous.
If shit gets too bad, I will have to dive onto the ‘trusty’ credit card, being charged conversion fees each time I do so.
I suppose I’m back here to stop me spending any more also haha. I will head out again soon. I was just hoping for the rain to let up a little. Might not be so lucky.
Anyway, here’s the facebook piccies I’ve shared so far.
Day 1
^ That is the only bit of sun I’ve seen since arriving here, so I took a photo of it.
Day 2
According to that first pic, it’s only going to be 14 and 13 with definite rain the next few days, so I’m quite happy I bought those extra clothes. Hopefully they’ll keep me warm and I don’t look too bad in them. I kinda just guessed in the shop. I don’t even know how to wrap a scarf properly lol. Such a typical male species :P
