I'm a bit late in showing you all this - but here's a photo of Jesica and I just before we headed out on 23rd November to watch the 3D showing of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode at the cinema.

(Apologies for the fact that my eyes are closed - but this is the better of the two photos that were taken.)

We had a great time, of course. We also attracted a little bit of attention as we were, I reckon, the two best costumed people there. Quite a few people went partly costumed but very few fully costumed. So there were lots of scarves and a fez or two on show.

We had a bit of drama at the cinema though. The wheelchair area (well, one of them) was at the top/back of the auditorium. It was very nice up there actually - we were behind a little wall. That area seats four people - two spaces plus two ordinary seats. The second wheelchair space and the second ordinary seat were the only two seats in the theatre that hadn't been sold! So Jesica and I had this whole area to ourselves. Not quite like being in a Royal Box, I'm sure, but some people were looking up at us and wondering if we were anyone important... Anyway...the lift broke down while we were in the screening. So in order to get us back downstairs after the show one of the cinema guys had to wind the lift down by hand (using some kind of crank handle I suppose). Of course I suppose I could've used the stairs and so lightened his load a bit... but I didn't think of it at the time. Plus I'd not have wanted to leave Jesica on her own in the lift anyway. Yeah - I don't suppose my weight made much difference in the grand scheme of things.

I was pleased with my costume on the day but I somehow managed to forget to bring along the jelly babies that I'd bought for the occasion - so a few points off for that I reckon. I'll have to try and remember them for the 60th anniversary...

Jesica's outfit, as you can see, was brilliant. She was certainly recognised as Vastra because when we were going through the Paragon interchange to catch our bus home someone yelled out "Silurian!" at her.
