When I went into the kitchen this morning to feed our dogs I suddenly felt it was rather cold, I’ve noticed before its cold in there, out side is not a Indian Summer any more; I think I can plain the wind that as arrived over night. I’m pleased my duvet is still keeping me warm in bed, we did have three duvet’s a light one for warm summer, a second enough for cool springs or autumns; I think the thin and fat one’s went in those days of cutting back for a smaller home.
I have a second spring – autumn duvet, if we have a very cold spell I will be manoeuvring two duvets into the one butterfly duvet cover, I like duvets as soon as we had them’ I was very happy to see the old and heavy over downs; we really had an incuses for being late out of bed in those days! The older people complained they were too thin to keep them warm.
Staying with my Nan and Granddad things were three times worst, there were two old over downs on the bed, and under an old mattress with a low trench running its length, no matter haw I tried I always awoke down in the trench with those over downs holding me there!
Now I’m heading toward being old I can complain, but not at home in England, when we went to Germany for the Christmas Markets, our hotel was just wonderful all areas par the pillows, the German pillow dose not hold my head up; if my head is low I get headaches! Alas my German was not up to explaining my problem, and I wasn’t going to shout ‘I NEED A BRITISH PILLOW’ So I slept with my coat rolled under the flimsy German pillow!
