Choice of what day it is today.
If you know anything about British history you will know that it is the date of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 when the French fleet was stopped in its tracks under Horatio Nelson - who was shot on the same day on his flagship the Victory.
Here in the famous picture by Daniel Maclise from the late 1850s - and were his last words really ‘Kiss me, Hardy.’ ? No!
This is the kind of British history the Tory government would like us to know - unfortunately, it is engrained in my consciousness all ready.
However, if you have shorter memories, and interested in film it is Back to the Future day - the day in BttF 2 he goes into the future to 21 October 2015 - and you see what it will be like. So lots of stuff today about how right or wrong they were - lots of good entertainment - and I suspect known by more people than old Horatio.
Always nice to see the de Lorean car again which featured in the film - supposed to be the salvation of the Belfast economy - but John de Lorean came and went with the money - and spent some on drugs. Now that really is history!!!!

Does anything change
Today the Chinese president is signing a deal to provide finance for the UK to build a nuclear power station by 2025 - the government says it is a good deal - at the moment Nelson is turning in his grave!
