Kayla and Timmy were lucky to get tickets to Madison Square Garden for the mass with Pope Francis this past Friday. They go to a Catholic school and the eighth graders at their school received tickets. I was surprised at how great their seats were. They were in the middle level just above the altar. I went to a basketball game at Madison Square Garden when I was in college and my seats were not nearly that good. They thought the pope looked much different in person than on tv. They had never been to a mass that involved so many people being around the altar. All the cardinals were there. It will be one of the great experiences of their lives, I think. I am jealous I didn’t get to go, ha ha.

They stayed at a hotel near the garden. The diocese had reserved hotel rooms for Catholic school students a long time ago and that’s how they were able to get the rooms. They took a bus to New York on Thursday and came back on Saturday. They got to the garden at about one and there were things going on all afternoon. They met Cardinal Dolan, the Archbishop of New York.

We didn’t want Aaron to feel left out, so we took him to the bounce house place on Saturday morning. There were so many kids there. He had a good time, though. We took him to McDonald’s for breakfast afterward.
