These past few days have been…
1) My mother needs to tell my brother to shut up when it comes to me. He gets in her head which causes her to try and lay a guilt trip on me about ANYTHING.
2) When others were “too scared” to touch my car or just flat out didn’t want to, my friends brother did it. He fixed the main issue which was the flashing check engine light. One of my spark plugs was gunked up and broken. He gave me a tune up and now she is actually quiet and runs great. HOWEVER, when I was leaving from school the check engine light came back on. Don’t know what that’s about. I need to get it coded again, but lately I haven’t had time for that.
3) My son’s girlfriend, the issue that made me want to help her, well her brother-in-law/dad figure sort of “put me in my place” yesterday. He felt I was overstepping a line when all I was doing was offering help. There has been a whole drama surrounding her homecoming. She’s the only girl in their house and there are no mother figures around for her. He felt that I was making plans for her without her permission. Before I was given the talking to, I had it in my mind to call him and tell him that I’m not trying to take over on anything and I’m not trying to be her mother and make decisions for her. She had options and at the same time I was trying to teach my son how to be there for people as well. So that’s been smoothed over. Today I pick her up and take her to the fabric store to meet the seamstress. I have a sinking suspcion that this will not go over well.
4) I am about to resign to the notion that I will not be able to go to The Bahamas. I was so geared up to go and I think even if I get my ticket, I won’t have any extras to play with. I just talked to my cousin today and told her I’d be in touch. I got my son to think about. I mean, he can handle being alone, but then he can’t. I need to get some real groceries in my house and not just the stuff that will last me until the next pay day.
5) The meatball business. My sister and I got together last Friday to start working on recipies. We did the whole fry it up to see if it tastes okay, but they all just tasted like hamburgers. LOL So, we started with the classic Italian meatball. And while it was good, she added too much Italian herb to it which was overpowering and there didn’t seem to be any moisture. They were good, but for the dry and loud herb flavor it didn’t quite cut it. Next was the Asian. The consensus was that we let the sauce be the star of this one, HOWEVER, this was, made with all pork was WAAAY dry. We were trying to figure this thing out. So I came up with the idea of lets cut the cooking time. So we tried it with the Greek/Gyro ball. All lamb, no meat mix,cut the cooking time at the same temp. The most perfect one yet! My niece said that it tasted like the Lays potato chip. Which was good because if EVER a chip harnessed the flavor of anything, this did.
5a.) My good friend and I were having a discussion about side hustles and I told him about the meatballs. He is having a subdivision block party this weekend and asked if I could get him and estimate and an order. So I got a deposit from him today. Come to find out my sister priced the wrong thing. Now he just wants to do the Greek only even though he said let’s go with Italian and Greek. It’s been a comedy of errors, but we are ready to go. I’ve gotten in touch with my dad to ask him if we can use the church kitchen on Friday after 5 so that we can get these together. I will deliver on early Saturday afternoon and take a nice long nap afterwards.
6) I went to church two weekends in a row. I was late but there was a movement in the air. I wrote once before that I was sensitive to the spirit of God and it washed over me. This past Sunday I was in church AWL DAY-ah. It was a good time. Got to be with my family. That’s always good. They tried to get me up to sing with my siblings. 1) I didn’t know what they were going to sing, 2) I’ve never sang with them before. So I declined even after daddy called me out from the pulpit. LOL They so desperately want me to get up there and sing. I need them to quit.
With that being said, this is my life when it’s busy. It’s hectic and I feel important, but my goodness.
Love yourself and others.
Take care now.
Kindest regards,
Sister
