Today marks the end of the first two weeks of school. Kayla and Timmy are in eighth grade. They are in two of the same classes. There is a big emphasis on organization this year. This will help them get ready for high school next year. Timmy is on the middle school soccer team. They have games against the other middle schools in the area. Kayla has joined the chess club at school. They meet once a week after school and play chess. I haven’t played chess since I was a kid. I am trying to brush up so I can practice with her. My husband played chess with his buddies in the Air Force and is teaching Kayla how to play.

Aaron is in fifth grade this year. He has worksheets to complete each night. He has a spelling test each week and every morning they work on correcting sentences with errors. He is also playing soccer.

Timmy and Kayla are among the lucky ones that will see Pope Francis celebrate mass at Madison Square Garden. The diocese had tickets to give to Catholic school students. The eighth graders at their school were lucky enough to be given some of the tickets. They are leaving for New York City by bus tomorrow morning. They will spend the night at a hotel. There are activities scheduled during the day on Friday and the mass is at six. They will stay at the hotel on Friday night and leave on Saturday morning.
