Writing an entry at last in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

So much going on but most are either resolved or on cruise. Not sure how much I’ll write but one must begin somewhere. I have forgotten to write about some stuff and if I remember I’ll insert in the correct order. heh
1 July I sold the old Tahoe to my brotherinlaw who mows A’s yard. He gave me a down payment and will make payments until it is paid off. I sold it to him for what the dealership said they give me. I took it to the garage where he worked, but has since changed jobs, and the owner gave it a complete look over. Said nothing major but “normal” things that may need to be fixed later. Nothing too bad so I felt better about selling it to family. BIL had to show me proof of insurance before I would sign the title. lol I kind of talk to and treat him like one of my kids. Matter of fact he was born 4 mos after Gonzo and I got married and no, we didn’t know Gonzo was going to have another sibling. Typical and became normal as she had 3 more afterwards.
A and Owen had both gotten stung by something that A thought was a wasp, then a hornet. Monday before last, A called me at work and said she’d just gotten stung in her house by a hornet. She had put a solution of vinegar and baking soda on it and was going to lay down for a while and if I didn’t hear from her in a couple of hours to check on her. Well I received a text within the 2hrs and she said she was fine. Good deal! Then a bit later she called again and Owen had gotten stung inside the house, so she proceeded to hunt the little buggers down. She checked outside and nothing and since they both had been stung while sitting on her sofa, she pulled it away from the wall and low and behold there was a nest. It turned out to be a yellow jacket nest, but either way, not a good thing inside your home. She and Owen stayed here that night and I started called pest control #s. I got in touch with a guy who said he would spray the next day for $125.00. Geeze!! But you gotta do what you gotta do although I was seriously thinking I should use my wasp and hornet spray and tackle the job myself. However the good Lord was watching after me and I went with a pest control person. A started calling other pest control numbers and got ahold a guy who said he could do it for $50. Another God thing. She called the one I’d made the appt with and cancelled that one and Tuesday morning after she took Owen to school was the plan.
I do have pictures but do not want to take the time to post them but the nest was so big that it was being expanded by the yellow jackets. The main nest was inside the walls of that side of the LR and they (yellowjackets) had bore through the wall to expand. This nest was partially attached to the back of their sofa. There were hundreds, although A said thousands. So very grateful that neither of us decided to DIY. I believe A and Owen’s guardian angels were exhausted and a couple of stings got the issue discovered and destroyed. A blessing for sure!
Last week i had several meetings at work and after work. Getting up early and getting home later than normal makes me behind for days. It’s been about the same this week too. Monday at work were meetings in the afternoon and then a meeting Monday evening. Yesterday we had a meeting about having a meeting today and after Monday’s meeting I left to get some personal things taken care of that needed done.
Have also been working on the items I need to be a fortune telling gypsy later this month. Made peasant top Sunday and have bought all kinds of makeup and accessories to accessorize my “costume”. I bought a lot of the makeup at the Dollar Tree and I’m not so sure it will work. Not “smooth” application of any thing I bought, which is foundation, eye shadows, mascara, lip liner, eye liner, and nail polish. Haven’t tried out the nail polish yet, but thinking I should. Course I don’t use any makeup as I have always been allergic to it. When the grandgirls girls and Isaiah stayed with me weekend before last, I had them bring their makeup (which is better quality than mine.lol) and practice on me while looking at a picture of a fortune teller. Raylee went first and she did ok. Then Mickey who was so funny and cute as she was very determined to get it just right. She made me up twice. Makeup was removed 3Xs and the next morning my eyes were a bit swelled and itched like crazy for most of the day. I hope these work folks appreciate my pain and suffering to give them a good time at a function and hopefully some laughs if not belly laughs. Actually if I can bring them some smiles and laughs for a couple of hours it will all be worth it. I’ll take an extra allergy pill at noon that day. lol
My “harvest” has been a bit lean in the tomatoes, cukes, and green pepper department. And it was mentioned in comment previously about walking/strolling through my garden. I don’t have but 2 tomato plants in my little garden area and the weeds have taken them over. (and the little snake) The others are all in containers. Some bigger than others but containers. Next year I’m going to have a bit more organization of the container garden and have them closer together instead of hither yither and yon.
Our pizza is almost ready to get out of the oven so will end this entry. Hope all of you are doing great. Take care and God Bless you!
