My weekend. in One day at a time

I had a fun weekend. The bosses took us out to lunch on Friday (unheard of), and I had a glass of wine with lunch. I remember now why I don’t do that. I struggled through the afternoon and was in bed by 8.00pm. The upside of that was I was wide awake at my normal time (6.30am) on Saturday and raring to go. I did my laundry, changed the sheets, vacuumed the house, cleaned the kitchen and then spent about an hour out in the garden. Honestly you can’t even see where I have been, it’s so overgrown. I hate gardening, the only way I can get through it is to put my ipod on and work through 20 songs (I figure that is about an hour). It was cold out there too.
I’m starting to feel the effects of what I can only describe as the funk I have been in. I have neglected the house, and the garden and things are starting to fall apart. My 2 year old microwave is starting to rust on the inside (wtf?). Anyway I felt good after getting all that stuff done - might I just mention that while I was doing that my room mate was locked in his room playing on his computer, followed by watching sport on television in the lounge. My annoyance just made me scrub stuff harder. I don’t mind him though, when I told him about the microwave he didn’t hesitate to say he would buy another one (and he only uses it to reheat coffee). I do wonder if he is the same at his girlfriends house (he splits his time about 50/50 these days, my friends joke that I am one of his sister wives.
Then I had to prepare a dish for the widows dinner on Saturday night. I was charged with bringing the vegetables, I did a bake with cheese sauce, and it turned out really well. There didn’t seem to be a lot of variety of vege at the supermarket (I should have gone to the fresh market since I was up so early). Anyway I did a carrot, broccoli, onion, corn and pea mixture - I would’ve liked to have included cauli, but couldn’t bring myself to spend $4.00 on one small one. The dinner was fun, we had so many laughs.
After the dinner disbanded at 11.00 I sneaked off to Richards. His Mother is away in Europe (to explain to new friends he is 51, not 16), but his business failed a couple of years ago - so since then he has lived with his Mother in a huge house. She is in her late 80’s, but pretty spry - although she does need some help. Anyway for about 6 weeks a year, I get to go there and act like a teenager too. We had such a good night, playing music, drinking and dancing. At about 7.00am (the sun was most definitely up), Richard said “don’t go home, spend the day with me” which has NEVER happened. By this stage I had sobered up but still hadn’t slept - yes, I am 50 not 16 either. I dithered backwards and forwards and decided I would go home and feed the cats and then come back. So I did that, but on the way back I was crazy nervous, this is definitely new territory for us. We have known each other for years, but mostly been nocturnal. Anyhow, long story short we had a lovely day together. Slept for a while then I had a hot bubble bath (I do love a bit of luxury), then we just watched some movies and talked. I went out to pick up some Chinese food for dinner, and when I got back he had laid the table with candles and cloth serviettes. I went home about ten (although he wanted me to stay). On the way home he sent me a text “miss you already”, again very unusual behaviour for him. I don’t know if I want to move this whole thing to another level, but I do know I enjoyed the day enormously and hope we can do it again. I got home to two very sulky cats. I swear if Booboo could talk he would have said “what time do you call this young lady???”
