In There Somewhere in Everyday Ramblings

This is the rooming house across the way just a week shy of a year ago. It is the building that was hand painted recently. It is now beige with a medium brown (with a greenish tinge) trim. Because of the heat stress and drought the colorful tree is almost bare now, though the tree behind looks the same, I can see it as I type.

We are having weather.

I went to the grocery this morning in the midst of a downpour and this woman in her fifties, running for cover, grinning gleefully from ear to ear said, “It’s raining!!! I am from Central Oregon and we haven’t had any rain since April and there is no snow left on the mountains.”

Except for one of them, the rhododendrons out front look like they might make it after all. I am so grateful for that as they provide cover from prying eyes into my living area and I like keeping the blinds open for the cats.

We had crazy strong winds yesterday and that agitated them. Blowing branches and shifting, endlessly shifting glare filled light through the trees. Today is a bit calmer and so are all of us.

Under Toad’s orders I am resting this weekend. I have a very busy week ahead. I finished listening to the newest Louise Penny book, “The Nature of the Beast”, lying on the bedroom floor on Friday night while my iPad recharged. Now I am reading a library copy of “Day Shift” by Charlaine Harris, the second book in the Midnight, Texas series. A character from the Sookie Stackhouse novels appears here. And Sookie is mentioned by name.

Mostly what I like about these books though is the talking cat, Mr. Snuggly. He is a bit of a sour puss but also very, well… cat.

As I prepare for the week ahead, teaching four yoga classes as well as working and having a long involved second opinion dental appointment and a haircut I am looking forward to working with experienced students and… the brand new washing machine that is being delivered tomorrow.

Fall with a brand new stove and washer. I believe I shall be unusually domestic. :)

I want to practice cooking low cost healthy meals and keeping my energy level up during the dark cold wet months.

If today is any indication, we will have flooding in town and there are a number of trees down in Southern Washington near here.

In the meantime I am happy to be resting and am looking forward to many small delights in the weeks to come.

We may even have a couple of beautiful fall days in there somewhere…
