Made In... in All Of The Above

I started the new job a couple of weeks ago, and while I like the work (most of the customers, keeping the store stocked and orderly), there sure is a lot of NOT ‘Made in the USA’ merchandise on our shelves.

When I look at a hinge, clothing, a hand or power tool, or tie-down straps and see ‘Made In China’ on the label, I always wonder, “Why don’t we make that here?”

How many jobs would we have - and how many have we lost? - due to outsourcing? I don’t have a problem with other countries manufacturing stuff, but when the tax laws and other incentives allow big companies to develop jobs overseas while at the same time forcing our under-employed to minimum wage jobs, well, I have a problem with that.
