Funny how we associate so many things life. We hear the word “cold” what is our thought. Bright? White? Cheerful?
My guess is not.
When I went to Aspen… it was cold, it was very bright and I was tremendously cheerful.
Images and words. We decode them, Make them relevant in our own minds and usually we attach emotion to them. Are we a half empty glass society or half full. Do we see the sad girl on the swing or the lucky girl in the full moonlight of night. Are her eyes sad? There is no smile or frown… what do we decide?
When we see images of people alone is the reaction peace or one of a depressed state of being. Is it a shame the person is alone or someone savoring a meditative state. Looking out a window pining for someone or restful contemplation of trees and scenery outside?
What path in our mind do we take when we open our eyes. The lonely path may be the one filled with enchantment. Less taken yet not trodden down with the thoughts and dogma of those who have chosen the path of futility . The one that only sees the darkness in the night.
The night may have darkness in it but it also has it wonder. I wonder if we still have ours.

Nice. I love words and communication but the truth of "words have personal meanings beyond their dictionary meanings" complicates communication constantly!

We are half empty most days, because many of us choose not to fill properly.

indeed...
we also seem to enjoy bitching about troubles instead of tackling them head on

So little of communication is actually held in the choice of words sometimes... Maybe we draw our inferences from the body language of the subject in the pictures, or perhaps from experience... a memory of ourselves hugging our knees and staring through the glass... and attach the feelings we relate to that pose...?

Agreed.... that is the downside here... we cannot "see" what others are doing when they communicate here... we look at italics, quotations, pauses put on the page... nothing like looking into the eyes of the communicator....

Very true... words without the addition of those external clues can be interpreted in many different ways..
