Overrated. in A small but passable life.

Another week has passed. A week in which I never changed out of this T-shirt and sweatpants. A week in which I never donned socks, shoes, or even my flip-flops. A week in which I never went outside the house except for once to roll the trash bin out front to the curb. A week in which I did manage to finish watching all four seasons of “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” and both seasons of “Max Headroom”.

Mom called and said my sis is back in the hospital. During this second round of chemo they found a spot on her lung and there’s been an infection of some kind. Mom wanted to know if I’ll be returning to the desert this coming winter. I told her I’d have to wait until it turns colder here to decide if I’m in the mood for cold or not.

I still find it incredulous that I’ve never really worn shoes since last November. Well, except for this past March I spent in the woods, but even then there were many days I was barefoot.

We’re being smothered by bread products. The daughter brings home so much product from Panera that is destined for the rubbish bin it’s ridiculous. We can’t eat it all. Not even close. We’re trying to find someplace to take it that it will be used. I think there are three big bags of bagels downstairs right now. Every morning she opens the store and slices the bread for the day she ends up with several big bags of “bread ends” that used to go in the trash, until she started bringing them home. It’s crazy.

So yeah, so far there’s been no reason to get out in the heat and humidity. I stand in the back doorway while Liam Dog goes out to do his business in the morning and the air is already hot and thick like soup and I can find no reason to not stay inside another day. Pathetic, I know. Maybe I’m just getting old?

I’m pretty sure the coming week will be a repeat of the previous week. Consistency really can’t be overrated.
