Weebles wobble but they don't fall down in One day at a time

Last night I came home (in the wet and dark) to discover the neighbours recycling all over my front yard. My house is kind of set down from the road and when the wind blows it is kind of a receptacle for anything that isn’t tied down. Anyway I was pulling my own recycling bin in and stopped to pick up all the paper scattered. I’m not quite sure what happened next but I was lying on the wet ground, being rained on and looking at the sky. I lay there for a few seconds stunned and then thankfully, was able to get up. I had tripped (I think) on the concrete garden lip. Today I am bruised and battered, and feel a bit like I have been through a cheese grater (grazed). At the time, I just kind of shook myself off but later I started to think “what if I couldn’t get up?” My roommate wasn’t home, he is spending more and more time at his girlfriend’s. As I said the house is back from the road, so I could easily have lain there all night. Scary stuff. Oh and I ripped my good winter coat, so add shitty to the list of complaints.
Otherwise things are okay. I’ve been busy with work and visiting my Mother. I feel sad that although she is getting good medical care, she just isn’t getting the personal attention she was getting at the last place. Her hair was straight (it has been permed ever since I have known her). She also had some hair growing on her chin, which she would be mortified about. I didn’t want to touch them, as I was there for such a short time and didn’t want to upset her. Next time I will go armed with tweezers or maybe some Nair.
Do you ever wonder if you were re-incarnated? I am sure that if I was, in my previous life I either died of starvation or froze to death. That would explain my need to constantly over eat, and to wear 500 layers. I stayed at Teri’s Dad’s house last Friday (when visiting Mum). They had a heat pump going, and I took a hot-water bottle to bed (which also had several blankets on it). I slept very well. In the morning Teri was down to a sheet (in the little twin bed next to me, we slept in her child hood bedroom) and complaining about the heat.
Things are going well with Rich at the moment. I don’t want to jinx it but he seems to be trying really hard, which is a very nice change.
