OUTCOME in LIFE OF A D.O.M. WIDOWER LIVING ON THE NJ SHORE

My printer now talks to my computer and responds to polite and reasonable requests. It took the intersession of a Tech Support man who listened to both sides and made a proposal amenable to both so they could agree to work with each other.
During this session the Tech Support man & I both saw my desktop display a
large amount of text behind the icons on the screen. The basic message was that all m files were now locked and it gave me instructions to contact the malware who would unlock my files for a fee. This was a Cripto Virus not too widely found on the Eastern United States but scary as hell to me. The Tech Man said it normally infects by a Trojan file but he managed to clear it before an damage was done. He said he had just studied the virus and was glad he was able to held defeat it before it did an damage and refused to accept an payment for his help. Then he solved my printing problems which was basically a bad cable.

Interesting evening.
