Fireworks in At the foot of the hill

We spent the last couple of evenings watching fireworks displays…you know…those big fancy commercial shows… from our third-floor apartment.

Friday there was just one across the lake from us. It’s on the wrong side for us to be able to see it from the balcony, but we can sit on our bed and have a perfect view. A fast-moving rain shower came thru just when they started the program, along with a big thunder clap… kind of kicked off the show. There must have been thousands of people out there and a good number headed for the parking lots. Our son and his wife were helping out at the park beer garden and the taps were shut down at precisely 9:30 (exactly when the show kicked off). Their shelter was inundated with spectators trying to get out of the rain and consequently nobody could see the fireworks. Too bad. We had a perfect view and never felt a drop of rain.

Saturday we had gone over to Son & DIL’s for a few hours of food and visiting but were home an hour or so before dark. No rain in sight. We had a panoramic view of major fireworks displays from the balcony all the way back to the bedroom all across the southwest metro area. It was really something to see.

Did I mention that I really DON’T like fireworks? Unless they are, like last nights’, at least three miles away.
