Out with the old in Day to Day

There was a young woman on the train this morning with headphones playing music so loud, I could hear it right down the other end of the carriage. It can’t be good for your ears. I sound like an old man moaning about unruly children. I was a teenager when personal stereos first arrived. I did have a walkman; we all did. But I never liked loud music even then. Maybe I’m one of those boring people who has always been middle aged.

There is a Jazz band playing in the park outside my office today. They’re not loud. They’re pretty good. I like jazz.

Tonight I am going to try and sneak out of the office early and go to see my son graduate to his brown belt at Martial Arts class. The boss has already done his usual Friday afternoon vanishing act. The senior boss seems to be “Out of Office”. It’s not like I haven’t been putting the hours in. I don’t feel guilty.

Above was written on Friday afternoon. I did sneak out early. I didn’t make it home before the boy left for martial arts school however. I still saw him graduate though. I went there by bicycle, in the rain. See what a good daddy I am.

This weekend I finally got around to fixing the grill. The new element works perfectly, and the thermostat wasn’t banjaxed.

Out with the old:

And in with the New:
