The Mystery Shifts Focus in Everyday Ramblings

There is something about the mash up of green colors, textures and the way the petals of the flower are spread out, almost a sense of movement here that I like. This is over by the track, the plantings between the parking lot and the street.

Now when I look there I see also the photos of that very spot in oh say 1910. It was a muddy gully with a railroad trestle and rows of shacks up behind it and the denuded Marquam Hill up behind that with a few mansions precariously perched not so very long ago. The area feels alive to me and full of energy, abundant with rich pockets of stories of adventurous lives full of hard work well lived.

I hiked up the side of Marguam Hill yesterday late morning to my long awaited Women’s Health appointment with the specialist. My understanding was that because they couldn’t complete the biopsy in April that this department was going to follow me and talk to me about what was found on the ultrasound and answer any questions I might have about what it all might mean.

Their understanding I discovered upon my arrival was that they were going to do the biopsy again. Eek.

I was not prepared for that and though I was feeling both some anxiety and frustration with how all this medical stuff was going I wasn’t anticipating a painful invasive procedure. This is a good thing! I was much more relaxed than I had been when they tried before and I had to sign all these release forms and it was all very elaborate.

This was low key, straightforward, compassionate and fast and (I am happy to say), successful. This appointment was why I took the whole week off. I was taking tomorrow off anyway and then this appointment got booked in and my schedule was looking more and more complicated and I was just overwhelmed with the logistics of all these specialist appointments and I thought what the heck. I’ll take the work element off the table.

I am so glad I did as I had some cramping and discomfort yesterday afternoon and was able to curl up in the poofy chair with Carlo and finish reading the stress book.

The news is good. The doctor was very reassuring. We’ll wait for the path reports but he’s seen this kind of cancer they were looking for a lot and I don’t have any markers for it. He said that he almost positive that what is going on with me is not a Women’s Health issue and that the areas of concern had been there for sometime. So I’ll need to have a follow-up ultrasound next spring.

And the rest remains a mystery.

In the evening I walked over to see my Buddhist Counselor. I hadn’t seen him in many weeks because between the two of us we couldn’t find a time to meet. It was a lovely evening but I was one tired person with my tail feathers dragging by the time I got home.

Before I head off on more adventures in medical science though I am going to pause and spend time with my family, Most Honorable hasn’t been on the aerial tram yet so we are going to explore the local staircases and take the tram and then have lunch. Then tomorrow Kes and I will go to the museum and an expensive local knitting shop and out to lunch.

The cats are very excited. Two days of attentive extended family with which to P-L-A-Y! They feel I totally take them for granted.

Ha.

P.S. I tweeted this morning about having finished The Upside of Stress and Kelly McGonigal the author favorited the tweet! Sweet. How cool is that in the modern world of the future? Direct contact with an author one admires.
