It never fails. in A small but passable life.

It never fails that as soon as I post an entry I realize that I’ve failed to mention a few happenings.
It was last Saturday when Jassy decided that we all needed to go to George’s for lunch. When we pulled into the parking lot I said that looks like Victoria’s car parked over there. It was. We had been sitting there a bit when I spotted Victoria coming out of the kitchen. She looked over. I pointed at her. She pointed back and then walked over. We chatted for a few minutes. She held my hand. I gave her a small belly rub. Has it really been about six or so years since we’ve seen each other?
Victoria said she was still with the same guy. She still has the three kids. She said they live about five miles out in the country on five acres and she’s been working at George’s for four years.
I finished reading “The Wallcreeper” by Nell Zink. It was a nice little story.
I walked to the library today to return the last two books. I stayed there for a bit with my tablet on their wifi getting caught up a bit reading people.
Jassy is slowly getting the apartment cleaned out and moved over here.
I’ve got my old green wool army blanket hanging in the doorway between this room and the west room. There are two doors; one at the head of the stairs and one down at the bottom at the kitchen. I leave those open. Fat Cat (Ass Cat?) and Liam Dog have the run of the house. I hear them on the stairs and then they push through the blanket. Liam Dog barrels right through the center and Fat Cat noses around the side.
I’ve got my pallet on the floor. My Ridgerest pad, the two summer bags doubled up, and a sheet doubled up, with just my knit Blankie for cover-up. Liam Dog likes to lie on the carpet with his head resting on the foot of my bed. 8:40pm and that’s where he’s at right now. Sound asleep.
I’ve got a couple of deep, esoteric philosophy books to trudge through before I go back to the library. I’ve got three books on my hold list. Hopefully it will be awhile before they come available.
I sent a dollar with Jassy when she made a run to Dollar Tree. I needed stronger reading glasses. The 1.75’s weren’t cutting it anymore. So now with 2.0’s I can leave the book on my lap once again.
So yeah, still working on getting a routine established.
I’ll write about the broken gravestone next time.
